silver cross - SPECIALFEATURE:BABIES+KIDS the pioneer pram & pushchair Silver Cross has been going strong since 1877. It’s a much trusted brand name that is well loved and is recommended – even passed down – through generations. With a name as recognisable and popular as this one, you might expect that quality comes as standard, and when it comes to the Pioneer pram and pushchair travel system (with additional car seat, to really make it perfect, of course), you’d be right. BY SARAH GREENE It’s a nifty addition to the baby bits and bobs that will, by now, be dominating your home. The best thing about this particular item however, is that unlike a lot of the other products that you can buy for your little one to come, this one will actually be used. Every day. No matter where you go or what you do, this pram and pushchair combo can go with you. That’s because it’s an all-terrain buggy and it’s as sturdy as they come. There is no way this is going to collapse or buckle at an inappropriate moment. Surprisingly, though, it’s also pretty lightweight. This isn’t a pushchair that will be a hassle to take out with you because it’s hard to get in and out of the car – instead, it’s a breeze. It’s suitable for every parent and every child too as it can be used from birth – invest £700 or so into this pushchair and pram set and you won’t have to pay another penny in baby transport; the Pioneer from Silver Cross has it covered. So, it’s easy to manoeuvre and comes in at a very reasonable price for everything that comes with it – plus the Silver Cross name gives you a definite feeling of security. But how does it look? Will you be proud to push this particular pram around? The answer is, undoubtedly, that you won’t mind being behind the handle (which, by the way, is covered in gorgeously soft leatherette, so it’s comfortable to push) of this pram or pushchair. It’s a lovely looking system; modern and sleek, all shining chrome (or graphite – you can pick) and matte black. With the addition of your choice of colour coming from the hood and apron fabric, it really makes a statement. As for those colours, there’s a wide range to choose from including silver, sky blue, vintage red, vintage pink, vintage blue, sand, and a number of Special Editions. Another great addition to the Pioneer pram and pushchair set is the large basket with a useful hardened base underneath. It measures 43cm x 56cm x 26cm, big enough to hold plenty of shopping, or your baby bag plus a good few toys. That leaves your arms and shoulders free which, when pushing a buggy, is a blessing. Other handy additions include three different leg positions for pushchair mode, allowing your baby to be as comfortable – and safe – as possible; adjustable handle height; padded seat fabric; a five-point harness; and it’s easily foldable too. Ideal for when you’re out on your own – you don’t need more than two hands to put this up or fold it away again. Phew. The Pioneer pram and pushchair is great value for money, and something that you can quite happily use for many years to come should you need to. It’s a great addition to any family. The Silver Cross Pioneer pram and pushchair is available at www.silvercrossbaby.com priced at £745. SilverCross_UK SilverCrossUK silvercrossuk 83
