GAME PLAN:
BOARD GAMES REDISCOVERED
ARE YOU A SCRABBLE CHAMPION, WANNABE CHESS
GRANDMASTER OR A SERIOUS MONOPOLY MEGALOMANIAC?
COME AND CELEBRATE 500 YEARS OF BOARD GAMES AT
MAIDSTONE MUSEUM.
If you love games then it’s time to dust
off those Scrabble tiles and hang on to
your bishop as Game Plan: Board Games
Rediscovered (V&A Museum of
Childhood) rolls into Maidstone Museum
this summer!
Whether you are six or 106, this
exhibition promises to be an exciting
experience – a real trip through board
game nostalgia. Containing over 100
objects displayed chronologically, Game
Plan looks at the way in which games
have always reflected the world around
us and the importance of games and
game playing in people's lives.
Alongside current family favourites such
as Cluedo and Trivial Pursuit, and
traditional games like chess, the
exhibition will focus on the last 500 years
from the first illustrated race game, the
16th-century Game of Goose, to the most
recent version of Monopoly.

Summer activities inspired by the
exhibition are also available to mini
gamers aged between 4yrs and 11yrs.
Children can choose from a broad range
of craft activities inspired by firm
favourites like Snakes and Ladders,
Draughts, Guess Who? and Tic Tac Toe.
