Catman – Whitstable Catman is a mysterious figure, but his (or her) art is always fascinating. A Banksy-esque artist who leaves their mark in the Whitstable area, it is fun to spot new pieces as they pop up. Catman’s latest work of art can be seen on the mini roundabout separating Oxford Street and Cromwell Road – it’s the iconic image of ET in Elliot’s bike basket as they fly across the moon (only in this case, the moon is the roundabout itself). Another of Catman’s artistic pieces depicts Queen Elizabeth II on a hoverboard pulled by corgis. This is in Dulwich which has a thriving street art scene. IMOS Foundation Brainchild of artist Briony Kapoor, the IMOS Foundation is all about brightening up the local Romney Marsh area with art – some of it decidedly unexpected. There are, for example, large murals painted across the area, and IMOS is in search of new artists to add even more to their already impressive count. Sculpture is another important facet of the IMOS Foundation, and the group is in the midst of creating a stunning sculpture park which will be completely free of charge. It has, they say, the potential to be the biggest park of its kind in the UK, filling up to 100 square miles. Current sculptures by IMOS can be seen at Sainsbury’s in New Romney, on a rooftop in Fairfield Road and in the high street opposite the Methodist church. 85
