WOW BROWS AT
TRACIE GILES BESPOKE PERMANENT MAKE UP

I've always had sparse, light
eyebrows, which isn't a great
compliment to almost-black hair.
I've never over plucked – it's just
that nature or genes or the
eyebrow fairy decided that I didn't
need more than 11 hairs over
each eye.
Semi-permanent makeup
has always intrigued and
frightened me in equal measure.
It seems to go ever so right, or oh
so wrong; and when it comes to
brows, if it goes wrong, it goes
really wrong. I've always avoided
any products that can't be
immediately washed off (just in
case something goes awry), so
the thought of having something
done to my brows that would last
a few years, well, no thank you
very much.
My attitude changed when
I was told about Tracie Giles
Permanent Make Up based in
Knightsbridge, London, right
around the corner from Harrods.
This 5-star salon claims to be the
“Pinnacle of Excellence for
Permanent Makeup in the UK”,
and for good reason. Their client
list includes the likes of Stacey
Solomon, Fifi Geldof, Katie Price,
and a whole host of TOWIE stars.
I was officially intrigued.
After researching, and
researching, and researching
some more, I decided to put aside
my fears and book an
appointment at Tracie Giles. As
they say on their website:
“…achieving the desired results
requires an incredibly skilled and
experienced practitioner using
only the most advanced
equipment dedicated specifically
to permanent make up in a safe
and sterile environment.” I was
confident knowing that the team
at Tracie Giles could live up to
that statement.
Each technician at Tracie
Giles has gone through extensive
training, and I was excited to
learn that my eyebrow artist,
Marta, had over 12 years’
experience and had trained in
both Paris and Beijing before
joining the Tracie Giles team in
2014. Knowing that Marta not
only works with her own clients,
but trains new TG team
members, made the last of my
fears dissipate.
As I settled comfortably onto
the bed, Marta took her time
pencilling in perfectly shaped
brows, taking into consideration
my ideas and her knowledge of
what looks best on different face
shapes with various hair colours.
I expressed my fears (no block
brows!), and she thoroughly
understood my desire for natural,
can’t-tell-they’re-not-real
eyebrows.
There’s no time limit on the
planning phase, so the technician
will erase, redraw, or start over as many times as it takes to get the shape
exactly, perfectly right.
Once I was happy with the shape, it was time to get started. The
3D hair-by-hair brow procedure itself is done in two stages: first, your
technician will carefully draw on individual hairs under ultra-precise
magnification, weaving microscopic simulated hairstrokes among your
natural ones in a bespoke pigment to lift and define your brows. Second,
colour is added to fill in those pesky naked spots, and to add even more
definition. The individual brow strokes
were slightly more painful to receive,
but the colour stage was quite relaxing,
and I even found myself drifting off
a few times.
In under an hour I was ready to
throw away my eyebrow pencil
forever! I had very little redness and
was able to go out that evening to
show off my new ‘wow’ brows.
My new brows are definitely in
the ever-so-right category (not the oh-
so-wrong category as I feared). They
look natural, and no one thought I had two slugs crawling on my
forehead – mission accomplished.
I’m now a permanent makeup convert, and I can’t even being to
express the joy of getting out of the shower and actually having eyebrows,
and amazing eyebrows at that!
