Delpierre Antiques, Deal, Kent
www.delpierreantiques.co.uk
Although Delpierre Antiques once mostly offered
stunning antique furniture, and has done since
1998, there is more here than meets the eye.
Vintage clothing has made a big impact on
Depierre Antiques and now you can find a special,
unique piece that is completely you. Every era
from the 20s to the 70s is accounted for within
the stock held here, and all of it is sourced by the
owner. And as a bonus, there is a collection of
the most exquisite and beautiful vintage wedding
dresses.
Benjamin Brown Vintage, Pett, East Sussex
www.benjaminbrownvintage.com
Benjamin Brown Vintage came about when Donna
Gilbert (who has always loved vintage fashion
and has a City & Guilds qualification in fashion
and dressmaking) wanted to find a prom dress
for her daughter. But she couldn’t. Not on the
rack anyway. So a search for a vintage prom
dress and then the alterations to make the perfect
frock fit actually turned into a successful and
thriving small business.
Every vintage garment offers a timeless appeal
which is why it can take a long time to find in the
midst of other, less well crafted, less attractive
pieces. But with Benjamin Brown Vintage, you
don’t have to do the searching – each piece can
be sourced for you, and when you do spot the
one you just have to have, alternations can be
done to make sure it fits beautifully. These really
are made to measure, one of a kind, utterly
stunning garments.
Not only that, but there is also a range of 1950sinspired dresses which have been made to capture
the vi be and the essence of the time – and each
one is unique.
Revival Vintage, Canterbury, Kent
www.revivalscanterbury.co.uk
This is the kind of shop you can spend many a
happy hour in, simply browsing. But it’s unlikely
you’ll leave without purchasing at least one lovely
vintage item, and as there are garments from
every era over the last 90 years, there is plenty
to choose from. For an independent and, let’s
face it, niche shop such as this to still be in
business after 25 years is testament to the great
79
service, fabulous stock (and frocks), and the love
that so many people have for wonderful vintage
clothing.
Linda Chivers Boutique, Arundel, West Sussex
www.arundelantiques.co.uk
Linda Chivers opened her special boutique in the
Arundel Bridge Antiques Centre so that she could
share her love of retro and vintage clothing with
others. Little did she know that it would soon
become the must-see sensation of the area, with
people travelling for miles around to come and
buy her unique vintage finds. As long as the
garment is made of natural fibres, Linda is bound
to love it, which means her customers will too. A
love of vintage comes from a love of style and
beautiful things – and it shouldn’t matter how old
the clothes are if they look stunning. Linda finds
most of the stock for her boutique in charity shops
and at specialist auctions – even car boot sales.
And people bring items to the shop for her to
appraise too.
