BUSINESS KENT BUSINESS PROFILE: the skin clinic This month, insideKENT spoke to multi-award winning cosmetic doctor and GP, Dr Johanna Ward, to find out more about her clinic, treatments and what makes The Skin Clinic stand out. Dr Johanna Ward Tells us a little bit about your clinic… What treatments do you offer? I set clinic up five years ago. The idea was to create a haven for skin lovers, bringing all the best that Harley Street could offer to Sevenoaks. I wanted to offer safe and clinically effective dermatology, cosmetic and laser treatments in a cutting edge and professional environment. We now have a wonderful, state of the art, seven treatment room clinic that has an operating theatre, two laser and minor surgery suites and numerous treatment and consultation rooms. We added cosmetic and skin surgery to our services in 2015 and now have two wonderful plastic surgeons working with us. We offer everything from cosmetic surgery to mole checks/removals, dermatology consultations, acne and acne scarring treatments, laser treatments, weight loss, body contouring and fat reducing treatments. We have some of the best technology in the country in our clinic, and have invested heavily in bringing cutting edge and new technology to Sevenoaks. For example, we have three Fotona lasers, a Coolsculpting fat freezing machine, an Ultracel machine, a HydraFacial machine, LED machines and Exilis skin tightening machines. I went to LA last year to interview some of the best plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills and found that we have all the same machines and techn ologies that they have, so that felt good! What makes your clinic stand out from others? I have surrounded myself with people of a very high calibre, people who, like myself, are passionate about everything and anything to do with cosmetic and aesthetic medicine. We have two plastic surgeons working at the clinic, numerous aesthetic doctors, nurses and many aesthetic laser therapists. We work hard to deliver clinical excellence to all of our patients and to give them a lovely experience with us. feedback for us is a happy patient and someone who we have helped feel better about themselves. The private medical industry is not regulated. How do patients find a good clinic? Yes, sadly private cosmetic medicine is poorly regulated in the UK. This can mean that rogue practitioners and clinics turn up and patients get a bad service. We are registered with the CQC, an organisation that ensures safety in both the public and private sector. We have strict ethical codes and I only employ the highest trained practitioners. Our plastic surgeons are some of the best in the country and all of my staff are hand-picked and trained so that I can be sure that they deliver the best and safest treatment for our patients. Safety is of paramount importance. Tell us about your awards… Last year the clinic was voted Best Clinic in the South at the National Aesthetic Awards. This was a huge achievement and was a lovely reward for all of our hard work and vision. A few years before that we won Best New Clinic in the UK and I won best Doctor. Although the award wins are great it’s not all about that. The most important 157 The Skin Clinic 74 London Road Sevenoaks TN13 2DN 01732 462844 www.theskinclinic.org.uk
