IN ASSOCIATION WITH
Eltham College Students
win International Sporting Honours
In the last month, seven Eltham College students have been selected to represent
England and Great Britain in the sports of Fencing and Ski Racing.
Young fencers Lachlan Jarvie and
Francesco Roccato, have been
chosen to represent the England U13
Boys Foil Fencing team at ‘Challenge
Wratislavia’ in Wroclaw, Poland. The
boys are extremely excited about their
selection and now have England
stripes stitched onto their fencing
jackets and breeches.
Meanwhile in ski racing, after
becoming the overall winner of the
British Ski Academy (BSA)
Championships in Les Houches,
France, Diaco Abrashimi has been
selected to represent Great Britain in
the U14 Ski Team at the Topolino
international races in Folgaria, Italy.
Other members of the school’s
ski racing team produced strong
performances in the English Schools’
Ski Association (ESSkiA) Regional
Qualifiers and National Finals last term,
resulting in Alex Lancaster, Luke
McCool and Ketan McMillan being
invited to be part of the England
Schools Preliminary Squad 2016, and
Richard Trew joining Diaco Abrashimi
in the England Schools Senior Squad
2016. They will be attending training
camps run by ESSkiA this
spring in Landgraaf, Holland and in
Geilo, Norway. These camps are a
pathway to representing England
whilst competing at the ISF World
Schools Championships.
The students follow last year’s
international representatives at the
school: Reuben Bird-Tulloch (England
Rugby U16 Captain) and Helena
Coleman (Great Britain Pole Vault,
European Club Championships
Istanbul).
Both the Fencing and Ski Racing
teams train throughout the year under
the guidance of professional coaches
who themselves have competed at
international level for Holland and Great
Britain respectively.
