The Lullaby Trust // from £5 a month East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service // from £1 a month East Sussex WRAS was established as a voluntary group in 1996 in order to provide a front-line rescue service for wildlife casualties who unlike their domesticated cousins, do not have owners to help look after them. The service is free of charge, but the average cost of responding to and dealing with a callout is £75, which includes veterinary bills, food, water, electric, bedding, caging, rescue equipment, vehicles and fuel, phone bills and other necessary expenses. Between 2,000 and 3,000 calls are made to the East Sussex WRAS each year, and all the people who work for the service are volunteers. Donating just £1 will pay for a life saving antibiotic injection for an injured hedgehog, £2.50 will pay for a tin of specialist prescription food, and £5 a month pays for trauma gauze, which can be the difference between an animal living and dying. www.wildlifeambulance.org The Lullaby Trust (formerly FSID – The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths) provides expert advice on safer sleep for babies, supports bereaved families and raises awareness on sudden infant death. Your £5 could pay for an information pack to raise awareness of The Lullaby Trust’s safe sleep messages among parents, and £14 could provide one hour of bereaveme nt support from a trained telephone advisor. www.lullabytrust.org.uk He’s waiting for someone he can look up to.
