VISITKENT Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens Pay a visit to one of the county’s most famous gardens this January, and you will get an in-depth look at several gardens for the price of one. This month, Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens will play host to some of the best garden, plant and landscape photography from amateur and professional photographers across the globe. The iconic National Trust property will display the winning images from the prestigious International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) competition from 16th January to 28th February. From portrait to panorama, from the quirky and amusing, and to the outright wondrous, the photographs reflect the everlasting appeal of the garden and vividly showcase images of a green planet. Categories include the Beauty of Plants, Wildlife in the Garden and Wildflower Landscapes among others. The exhibition at Sissinghurst will be one of the most visually striking the venue has hosted to date, and the winning shots are amongst the best ever displayed at an IGPOTY event. Kate Shaw, Events and Marketing Manager at Sissinghurst Castle said: “We are really excited to be hosting the exhibition this year, there’s a great set of images to see and we’ve got some surprises too from our garden team who have helped to bring it to life and bring a little of the outdoors inside. They’ve been busy drying flowers and growing hundreds of plants as well as designing handcrafted pots and structures to make it a truly unmissable exhibition.’’ Castle Garden when they snapped it up in the 1930s and set about transforming it into one of Britain’s most celebrated gardens. Visitors flock to the grounds every month of the year, both to enjoy the gardens but also to visit the estate’s many other attractions. Don't miss the panoramic views from the top of the tower, visit the working farm, pick up goodies from the gift shop or seek refreshment at The Old Dairy or The Granary Restaurant, featuring meat and vegetables straight from the estate’s farm. The estate is perfect for winter walks, a delicious lunch or a charming afternoon tea. Now in its ninth year, IGPOTY continues to be the premium competition for garden and plant photography with entries from all around the world. It is open to all ages, amateurs and professionals alike, with a Young Garden Photographer of the Year award for under 16s. The IGPOTY exhibition tours the UK and worldwide.
