What’s all the fuss about?
Should people ever
get away with telling
lies in court?

Two divorce cases have just reached the Supreme Court and both were
asking the court to decide what should happen if one spouse lies in order
to get a better financial settlement than they should have had. In one it was
said that the lie didn’t matter because it would not have made any difference
to the outcome of the case. In the other the court was invited to turn a blind
eye because the other party had agreed a deal to settle the case despite
having suspicions. As often happens in the Supreme Court, the judges
heard both cases at the same time so there were a lot of lawyers in court
arguing about dishonesty.
