FOOD+DRINK SEX, DRUGS AND SAUSAGE ROLLS A GREAT COLLABORATION OF KENTISH CREATIVITY A specially commissioned range of tableware, which was produced by Aylesford Pottery for The West House restaurant in Biddenden, has been used in a new book entitled Sex & Drugs & Sausage Rolls by the Michelin-starred restaurant owner and chef, Graham Garrett. Master potters, Billy Byles and Alan Parris both agreed to the sale, saying: “We were amazed one day to find a pop legend visiting the pottery and ordering a bespoke range of ware. Not only is he a great musician but has a really wonderful restaurant.” of fans sing ‘happy birthday’ to him in a stadium in Moscow, to the misery of being trapped in an airport for days on end. Graham also reveals the recipes behind some of his favourite dishes, many of them inspired by his childhood and turbulent youth – including the eponymous sausage roll. Sex & Drugs & Sausage Rolls is strictly limited edition with just 5,000 copies, each one numbered by hand. All books ordered from the Face Publications website will be signed by Graham. As the drummer for 80’s rock bands Dumb Blondes, Panache and Ya Ya, Graham was used to rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Freddie Mercury and Talking Heads. Later, as a chef, he worked for, and alongside, some of the biggest names in the business, including Nico Ladenis, Richard Corrigan and Gordon Ramsay. Graham, and his partner Jackie, bought The West House in 2002. His food has gained the restaurant multiple awards: including a Michelin star since 2004, a mention in Harden’s top restaurants list, and three AA Rosettes. Graham’s book tells the warts-and-all story of what it was really like in the music business back in the 80s – from the glamour of recording in the States and hearing thousands www.thewesthouserestaurant.co.uk
