EVENTS KentEvents Tenterden Folk Festival // 1-4 Oct Tour of Kent // 4 Oct To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Blackpalfrey Motor Club of Kent has come up with some exciting new venues for this year’s Tour. The start will be at the Moat, Wrotham Heath (just off junction M26 junction 2a or M20 junction 2). The route will take crews to Groombridge Place on the Kent/Sussex border for coffee before heading off to Bewl Water for lunch. A gentle afternoon ride will finish at Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, for a well-earned afternoon tea by the lake. This year the Tour will again be raising funds for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. It is choreographed by Northern Ballet’s artistic director, David Nixon, and set to an original score by celebrated composer, Claude-Michel Schönberg, known for his West End and Broadway hits Les Misérables and Miss Saigon. Wuthering Heights tells of Cathy and Heathcliff – inseparable as children, their childish affection deepens into an overwhelming love. As their lives take different paths, their bond develops into a devastating force as unruly and dangerous as the Moors that surround them. This production will see Northern Ballet’s dancers at their dramatic best capturing the spirit of their characters and drawing the audience into this untameable love story. 7.30pm (Thursday and Saturday matinee 2.30pm). As the thousands of Run or Dye’s participants already know, the 5km event is the perfect experience for the ‘I don’t care what I look like’ kinda feeling! Run or Dye gives women who are runners, walkers and all speeds in-between, the opportunity to experience and celebrate in full colour the thrill of the event and introduce the idea of ‘living life on purpose’.
