GETAWAYS THE RAMADA HOTEL Dover It’s hard to believe that just a stone’s throw from the A20 and less than five minutes from the hustle and bustle of Dover’s ferry and cruise terminals, castle and town centre lies the garden location of the Ramada Hotel. BY SAMANTHA G Its easily accessible location, combined with its 68 ensuite bedrooms (including standards, twins, family and executive categories), free wifi and high standards of customer service means that the Ramada is a proven go-to option for holidaymakers, families, cruise and ferry passengers and business delegates alike. Once the double doors open, guests are transported into the calm and welcoming hub of reception with its own Costa Coffee Lounge, which is open to both staying guests and visitors. A quick and efficient check-in provides access to the compact but amply furnished rooms, with ensuite bathrooms with power shower, flat screen TV, hairdryers and hospitality tray. Aside from serving hearty buffet breakfast options including freshly prepared omelettes and eggs, pastries and cereals, the onsite Olive Tree Restaurant is a central oasis of calm. Having been warmly welcomed to the dining room and upon recommendation from our waitress my guest decided to sample the lunch club menu, choosing the soup of the day – on this occasion a hearty smooth leek and potato blend and a main of chicken with fondant potato (smooth, creamy and well seasoned), with seasonal vegetables and peppercorn sauce (with just the right balance of spice and cream); whilst I opted for the grilled chicken burger, which came heaving with melted cheese, crispy bacon and salad, huge onion rings and a side of crisp fluffy chips. As a wedding venue, the hotel prides itself on its offering and service and as well as being one of the largest venues in the county, it is also considered a specialist in hosting Jewish Simcha and Asian wedding ceremonies. Wedding packages start from just £1,995. With a unique Asian and British flair, The Olive Tree is open for lunch and dinner with a varied and well-priced menu as well as offering the popular ‘lunch club’ menu where diners can choose two courses for just £7.95. There is also a Sunday Carvery and a special ‘Kids Eat Free’ a la carte option when dining with paying adults. The restaurant is well equipped to deal with parties, special events and group dining. If you are keen to experience the Ramada Dover, why not do so at one of their forthcoming events: Kids Halloween Party, Friday 30th October, £9 per adult, £5 kids; Comedy Night ,13th November, £12.95 or £24.95 with dinner; or the annual Senior Citizen’s Christmas Lunch Club Luncheon on 9th December where guests can enjoy a Christmas Festive Fayre Lunch with live entertainment for just £16.95 per person.
