spa day AT THE
London Beach Hotel, Spa and Country Club
“Relax, rejuvenate and refresh” in an exclusive adult-only haven, which
boasts a beautiful location and excellent service? Yes please! I mean, what
more could you want from a spa day? BY SAMANTHA G

Nothing beats a bit of 'me time', especially when
you get to escape from the stresses of day-today life for a cheeky spa day with the bestie who,
by the way, was just a s excited as me to arrive
at the spa annex of the London Beach Hotel,
Spa and Country Club.
Situated in the midst of glorious Kent countryside,
not too far from the lovely village of Tenterden,
the spa at the London Beach caters for members
who take advantage of the well-conceived gym
and class programme; hotel guests who can
upgrade their stays for some extra R&R; and of
course day spa guests such as ourselves, who
are drawn to both the impressive treatment lists
and stunning countryside vistas.

appetites were more than ready when lunch
beckoned.
The great policy of having guests select their
two-course lunch options from the well-appointed
menu – offering salad, sandwich and jacket potato
options as well as a 'decision decision'-inducing
dessert selection – just after arrival, means that
all guests can eat at a designated time and avoid
wasting precious relaxation time.

After an extremely friendly and informative
welcome, we were directed to the changing area
complete with complimentary robes and slippers,
which led onto the ladies-only sauna, steam
room, Jacuzzi and relaxation area; a tranquil
haven to rest, unwind and relax away from the
main pool area, first floor gym and second floor
treatment rooms.

Taking our seats in the cosy lounge area adjacent
to the main pool, we were blown away by the
stunning views that stretched over the green to
the beautiful Kent countryside and beyond. While
admiring, we enjoyed our huge jacket potato
lunch and decadent desserts of white chocolate
and honeycomb crème brûlée – a smooth and
creamy dish with sweet crumbly shortbread and
salted caramel mousse; and toffee apple, a
beautiful creation of mini toffee apple bonbons,
sticky toffee pudding, panna cotta and fudge.
Both were heaven on a plate, justified of course
as an extra treat for our pampering day!

Entering poolside during a rather energetic aqua
aerobics class, my guest and I were more than
happy to be lazy spectators and use this
opportunity to take advantage of the luxury saline
hydrotherapy pool with built in underwater
loungers, bubble jets and powerful water jets –
the perfect start to our relaxation journey
massaging away those aches and pains. A few

floor treatment rooms where once again beautiful
panoramic vistas beckoned from the tranquil and
comfortable lounge – a delightful place to relax
pre and post treatment. It wasn’t long before our
friendly therapists escorted us to our individual
therapy rooms, where we were treated to an
ESPA holistic back, face and scalp with hot
stones massage. This treatment combines the

all natural ESPA product range with body
brushing, the deep penetrating heat of hot stones,
and tailored aromatherapy oils and spritzers to
work out aches and pains, relieve tension, aid
lymphatic drainage, and provide ultimate relaxation
– and boy did it work! For the first time ever I
descended into a peaceful snooze at the end of
the treatment and only reluctantly left the treatment
room as I knew I could continue my blissed out
repose back in the relaxation lounge.
Joined by my equally serene guest, we descended
to the ground floor pool area to make the most
of the facilities before our departure. We indulged
in a sauna, steam and Jacuzzi before a thorough
drenching in the monsoon shower and final chill
out on the loungers, succumbing once more to
the muted haze of the sensory mood lighting
before reluctantly heading back to day-to-day
life, relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed just as
promised!
