CHARITY
LEEDS CASTLE TO HOST POPULAR RUN FOR LAST TIME
Runners are being encouraged to sign up to a
charity run at Leeds Castle this autumn and,
wait for it, there's even free chicken for all
participants!
Demelza Hospice Care for Children will
hold its 11th annual fundraiser at the venue in
Maidstone on Sunday 20th September.
Nando’s representatives will be at the event
dishing out free chicken wings to runners.
There are already more than 200 people
signed up to take part in the run, where there is
a choice of a 10k, 5k or 2.5k wheelchairaccessible route.
Participants are invited to arrive for the
event from 9am, and everyone who takes part
will receive a t-shirt, medal and free entry to the
castle for the day.
There are competitions taking place during
the run, including the Schools’ Cup, which is for
the school group that raises the most money
and for the running club that has the most
members signed up.
Runners will also be able to join in with the
fun of a photobooth where there will be a
competition for them to take the best 'selfie' with
Demelza mascot, Dotty.
There will also be a live performance from
drum band Bloco Fogo, face painting, and Heart’s
Neil Kefford will be hosting the event.
Entry to the run costs £15 for adults, £5
for children, and £35 for a family of four. Anyone
who wants to take part can register in advance
or on the day.
Events coordinator, Gemma Murray, said:
“We cannot wait for this year’s Demelza Run.
It’s always one of our most popular events and
there really is something for everyone to join in
with.
“With the addition of the photobooth, live
drum performance and face-painting activities
we are hoping the 2015 run will be the biggest
and best yet.”
It’s the last time Leeds Castle will hold the
run; next year’s event will be held at Groombridge
