Ramsgate Festival
// 29th-31st August 2015
The Ramsgate Festival, formerly known as the Summer Squall, is an increasingly popular family friendly
festival set against the spectacular backdrop of Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour. Now entering its sixth year, the
festival, which runs from Saturday 29th to Monday 31st August, is pleased to announce an entertainment
and musical line up even more spectacular than before.
This year's musical highlights include Alabama
3's acoustic set on Saturday 29th August. Hailed
by music fans and critics alike as one of the best
live bands in the world, Alabama 3 are purveyors
of electronica-tinged acid country gospel, but the
band is perhaps most well-known for writing The
Sopranos theme song.
Also headlining on the main harbour stage
on Saturday is the sublime Nell Bryden, with her
stunning vocal and melodic country pop. Born in
Brooklyn but living in the UK, the singer has
recently supported Gary Barlow on a world tour
and played with Jools Holland at the Albert Hall.
The festival also supports the best of local
talent. Other musical highlights include Rudy
Warman and the Heavy Weather, The Liberty
Choir, legendary DJ Adamski, and much more.
There's also plenty to entertain the kids over
the weekend, including a beachside funfair, craft
workshops in our marquee, street entertainment,
and magical family shows from top children’s
entertainers Kiki lovechild; Knuckle and Joint
theatre company, Rag & Bone; the Dancing Day
Kiki Love
Trippers; and CJ and Max. Don't miss a visit to
the Ramsgate Tunnels for spooky storytelling and
a tour into the past by visiting the Operation
Dynamo exhibition too!
For those who enjoy classical music, on
Sunday 30th The Impromptu Ensemble will
perform a recital of music from the period of 1815
in commemoration of 200 years of the battle of
Waterloo. If you prefer to sit in the sun, relax and
have a picnic, on Sunday 30th the East Cliff band
stand will have a programme of entertainment
24
Rag and Bone
including regency dancing, and music from
Wildwood Jack.
In addition to the funfair, the harbour front
will also be hosting a fabulous food market and
craft village fair with entertainment from street
performers and internationally acclaimed
circus dance troupe, Joli Vyan, on Sunday 30th
August. The Ramsgate Festival is presented by
Ramsgate Arts.
