Designer Spotlight: Kirstin Stride
Kirstin Stride is a trained silversmith and blacksmith who discovered shrink plastic as a
way to continue designing in her tiny apartment. She uses the creative material to
create unique jewell ery by hand, drawing and colouring each piece, and then finishing
them with a thick glossy glaze for a sturdy ceramic/enamel-like look and feel. In 2014,
Stride was asked by the Royal Academy of Arts to be included in its Rated collection,
and two of her pieces are now in its bestsellers section.

Miss Sedgwick Bag £68, JoeBobJim
Designer Spotlight: Tony Macgregor of JoeBobJim
Taking design inspiration from historical fashions, JoeBobJim’s designer Tony
Macgregor’s love for the past can be seen in each beautiful handbag he creates using
antique tools and machines. Macgregor carefully designs his bags to be sturdy because,
he says, "a lot of vintage pieces are just too delicate to use as much as you might
want to. I want to make pieces that are tough enough for today but catch the feel
of an otherwise unreachable past."
To make his show-stopping bags, he uses high-quality, mainly vintage leathers
along with strong sailing thread for strength. Every JoeBobJim bag has unique details
that are a delight to discover – from a hand-stamped leather serial number to lining
colours that pop, and gorgeous metal hardware. The Miss Sedgwick Bag and all
JoeBobJim nags are gorgeous and wonderfully fun to wear!
