BOYS & MAUGHAN ARE TOP WILL AID SOLICITORS
IN THE SOUTH EAST
Thanet- and Canterbury-based
solicitors, Boys & Maughan, has
raised more than £11,000 for Will
Aid following a successful willwriting month.
The firm’s offices in Margate,
Canterbury, Broadstairs, Ramsgate
and Birchington waived their usual
charge for clients making wills at
the end of last year, instead
donating the fee to Will Aid’s
charities.
Presented with a total of £11,095,
Laura Mead of Christian Aid – one
of the charities benefitting from the
initiative – said: “Boys & Maughan
should be exceptionally proud of
its achievement. The sum raised
will make a real difference to the
lives of vulnerable people both in
the UK and around the world.”
Will Aid campaign manager, Shirley
Marsland, added: “We really
appreciate the terrific amount of
work Boys & Maughan has put into
Will Aid. From the monies received
so far, Boys & Maughan is in the
top five solicitors nationwide for
donations and is the leading firm
in the South East.”
It is the fourth time that the firm has
taken part in the scheme and its
will-writing team met with people
from all over the county who were
keen to take up the opportunity.
Richard Welton, senior private client
executive and head of the willwriting team, said: “We were
delighted to support Will Aid once
again. Meeting Laura from Christian
Aid really brought home to us how
we can make such a difference to
the nine Will Aid charities, and we
got lots of positive comments from clients. To be the top performing law
firm in the South East is particularly pleasing.”
Will Aid funds the work of ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian
Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire
(Northern Ireland). For details, visit www.willaid.org.uk.
SUPERCHARGED EVENT WITH ADDED VA VA VOOM!
Green super cars were been hailed as ‘the future’
at a Kent finance and business event hosted by
McBrides Chartered Accountants last month.
McBrides' quarterly Finance and Breakfast club
(FaB) for Kent finance directors and CEOs, held
at the London Golf Club, was a souped-up,
super-charged event thanks to guest speaker,
Hugh Edeleanu, a leading Kent businessman
and owner of EVision Electric Supercars.
s
FaB attendees were keen to test drive Edeleanu’
Tesla cars and to hear McBrides tax partner Terry
,
Baldwin, share the tax advantages of owning
and using electric supercars – benefits of which
include no road tax and free charging.
Kent business leaders may best know Hugh
Edeleanu as the chairman of H.E Services Group
and Diggerland. EVision Electric Supercars is
Edeleanu's new and exciting venture featuring
the headline-grabbing Tesla, or as he described
it, "the future of motoring".
Tesla is the game changer in the industry; it's like
an iPad on steroids on wheels – it has the best
of everything and you currently pay no tax! It is
also capable of 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds.”
EVision is the first company in the UK to offer the
Tesla Model S in both the private and chauffeurdriven rental markets. Its fleet of 34 Tesla Model
S electric luxury cars are based at EVision’s
headquarters in Medway, Kent, where they are
charged thanks to the use of solar panels.
FaB members were then able to view the
supercars parked outside the foyer at the London
Golf Club, before taking a test drive.
The new venture targets environmentally
conscious individuals and businesses in London
and the Home Counties.
Edeleanu was keen to encourage FaB members
to join the electric car revolution. He said: “Electric
cars are changing the future of motoring and the

Partner, Nigel Kimber, said: "It was a particularly
stimulating FaB, and both Terry and Hugh gave
us a lot to think about in terms of the future of
motoring and the future of tax planning with
regards to the electric car. The electric car could
prove to be the way forward for SMEs and their
owners alike!"
