The Magic of Christmas Past at Hever Castle
The Magic of Christmas Past at Hever Castle // 29
Nov – 24 Dec
Learn about the origins of your favourite Christmas traditions at Hever
Castle. The rooms of the castle are decorated beautifully, and in each, a
tradition is explained. From the first Christmas card to carol singing to
Christmas trees and so much more, you’ll learn how they began, and how
they have evolved over time to what we have today. Make your own
Christmas crackers, follow a nativity trail, and enjoy a fantastically festive
snack and hot drink in the café.
Rochester Dickensian Christmas // 6-7 Dec
Rochester goes back in time to the Victorian era (and we all know how
good the Victorians were at Christmas – many of our current traditions stem
from that time, including Christmas trees and decorations and, of course,
the food!) with the castle becoming the backdrop to the most wonderfully
festive market you will ever come across. It doesn’t matter if the weather
is a bit dim, as there is a lamp light parade to enjoy, plus you can enjoy an
open-air carol concert, buy some truly unique Christmas gifts, and meet
Father Christmas. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s guaranteed to snow!
Kent Christmas Cracker // 21 Dec
The Kent Christmas Cracker in Deal is a fun, fit day out for all the family.
It is a two-lap five-mile race that takes place in Fowlmead Country Park, so
you can enjoy the scenery as you go. However, it’s not about the winning
(mostly), it’s really about the taking part; come dressed in a Christmas outfit
and you’ll be in good company with those around you. Once the race
is complete, there are plenty of treats to sustain you including a cup of
mulled wine for the runners. There is even a special children’s race for the
little ones.
