ARTS
IT’S
ALL
ABOUT
Kent is well known as the Garden of England, so with so much beauty
surrounding us, it’s no wonder it also has a thriving art community. The
stunning natural surroundings are obviously a key element when it
comes to influencing artists in the county.
Kent combines cutting-edge art galleries,
with creative studios, even whole areas of
some of Kent’s towns dedicate themselves
to the arts – Folkestone, Canterbury, Margate
and Tunbridge Wells being some of the most
renowned for their links with the art world.
Kent uses its favourable summer months to
focus on celebrating its art and the local
artists in the county. This is done through
exhibitions, shows and festivals from May
to September and beyond, enticing both
locals and tourists from around the world.
All types of art are actively encouraged
throughout Kent, not just in its towns but in
its schools, colleges and universities. From
painting, through to sculpture, graphic design
to illustration, even literary art, music and
the performing arts can be found in
abundance from the eastern coast to the
boroughs of London.
The Garden of England also provides many
opportunities for budding artists and people
with various creative talents to explore their
creativity and learn something new in the
thousands of courses, weekend breaks and
workshops run throughout the county.

county is currently undergoing a subtle
change, regenerating its seaside towns with
a focus on art in order to increase its tourism
trade and celebrate the fantastic local art it
has to offer.
