••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• welcome Recently, my brother and his family paid me a visit from America, and couldn’t get over how gorgeous Kent is. It’s easy to overlook when I see it each and every day, but showing them around really made me stop and ‘smell the roses’ - quite literally on some occasions. baking guru himself: Paul Hollywood. You’ll find lots of scrumptious recipes, top baking products, where to satisfy your sweet tooth in Kent and lots more starting on page 41. We took day trips to Leeds Castle, the Coastal Park in Folkestone, Hever Castle, Dover Castle, Canterbury and Reculver; and a fabulous steam train ride on the Kent & East Sussex Railway to Bodiam Castle. Being a ‘tourist’ for a few weeks reminded me how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place - especially in the spring and summer. Feeling lucky? We have more competitions in this issue than any other before - six to be exact, including a family membership to Drusillas Park, a copy of John Jackson’s A Little Piece of England, tickets to An Evening of Burlesque at Central Theatre Chatham, a Bow Hammock from Living It Up, a Ruark Audio R1 MKII DAB/FM Radio, and an Adventure Combo Bouncy Castle from duplay.co.uk. Have a look on the next page for where to find each one. One attraction you’ll definitely want to put on your to-do list this season is Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. Kent’s very own safari park, run by the Aspinall Foundation, will not only have you amazed at the variety of animals and fun things to do in the park, but the views of Kent and the sea beyond are unsurpassed. Read all about their exciting plans for this year on page 108. We’re slowly but surely creeping our way towards 10,000 followers on Twitter, and we’d love for you join us!
