ARTS Get Creative! KENT ADULT EDUCATION’S 2014/15 COURSES KENT ADULT EDUCATION WAS FORMED IN 2002 WHEN SIX REGIONAL PROVIDERS WERE PULLED TOGETHER. THE CREATION ALLOWED KENT ADULT EDUCATION TO DEVELOP A MORE SUBSTANTIAL AND CONSISTENT ADULT EDUCATION PROVISION ACROSS THE COUNTY. Kent Adult Education is offering a fantastic range of over 3,500 courses throughout the 2014/15 academic year, all of which can be accessed through their county-wide network of 12 centres. The courses available fall into the following nine categories: art, courses for business, craft, general studies, health and fitness, languages, personal development, photography and computing, and GCSEs. Better still, courses vary from single and half-day classes, to ones that run for up to 32 weeks of the year. Courses are also available during the day, in the evenings and at the weekend, making them accessible to all. So, whether you fancy yourself as a modern-day Picasso or simply feel 2014 is the year in which to channel your inner artist, Kent Adult Education has the arts world sewn up with their range of creative courses. Here are a few of the highlights: THE ARTS Dance Kent Adult Education's dance courses explore a wide range of musical styles and cultures, including traditional ballroom, Latin, folk, modern street, and the more unusual belly or bhangra dancing. Such courses can help to improve your mobility, suppleness, stamina and coordination, while also providing you with a lot of enjoyment and a great means of exercise. From beginners to expert, there is an option to suit all tastes. Painting and Drawing From acrylics and oils, to charcoal and pastels, Kent Adult Education has a fantastic range of painting and drawing courses that cater for all levels of experience and skill. Alternatively, why not try something different like Chinese brush painting or abstract painting? Their in-house art studios provide the perfect setting to find inspiration and allow you to focus on creating something special, while the tutors use their experience and knowledge to provide you with expert individual guidance. 26 Photography The centres' photography courses will help you to take good, interesting and exciting photographs, in a variety of contexts. There will be both individual and group tuition, in addition to discussions, during which you are invited to share your ideas and thoughts with others. These courses often venture outside of the classroom, which not only allows for more exciting and unusual subject matters, but also allows students to get to grips with the added challenges that can arise from shooting outside. CRAFT Clothes & Dressmaking This creative course looks at using fast, contemporary methods for fashionable and successful dressmaking and tailoring. You will work on your own project, at your own pace, while being shown the necessary processes needed to successfully complete your work.
