The guide reflects the high standard of dining in the South East as a total of 164 restaurants, pubs and cafés from across the region are included in the UK’s bestselling restaurant guide. Amongst the new entries and representing our fantastic county is GB Pizza Co in Margate. But it’s not just new entries making an impact; nine restaurants from the South East have made it in to the much coveted top 50 restaurants listing, with Whitstable's The Sportsman at number 39. The South East region is also home to some of the longest serving restaurants in the Good Food Guide, with Read’s in Faversham and Wallett’s Court in St Margaret’sat-Cliffe both making an appearance for over 20 years. The county's award-winning Ambrette restaurant, headed by chef patron Dev Biswal is one of the very few Indian restaurants to be included in the guide. Biswal explains, "A lot ethnic restaurateurs bemoan their lack of entries in leading restaurant guides, but very few of them are delivering original and authentic dishes and many of those that are, do little to make enough people aware of what they are doing." He continues, "The Ambrette's continued presence in The Good Food Guide is testament to the whole team's commitment to achieving and maintaining the high standards — back and front of house." www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk www.waitrose.com
