In 1785 , George Bishop built a modern Distillery on Bank Street in Maidstone , close to the River Medway . His Maidstone Gin was an instant success , so popular was his spirit that it was championed as one of the finest gins throughout all of Europe . Inspired by George , we have built a new Distillery in the heart of our county town . In a beautiful and historic building we champion over 200 years of distilling history and dedication to our craft .
