HAUNTED KENT CONT .
Blue Bell Hill
The Blue Bell Hill Road in Maidstone may have a perfectly innocent name but this road is reportedly one of the most haunted roads in Kent , with over 50 reported sightings of female spectres over the years . One ghost is suspected to be a young bride-to-be , who was killed in a car crash in 1965 and has wandered her tragic last home ever since . She has reportedly been seen standing on the bank staring into nothingness ; she and two other apparitions have also been seen walking in the road , with certain motorists having the terrifying split-second belief that they had hit the women with their cars , only to have them evaporate into thin air . In 1971 , one considerably confused driver even reported picking up a lady on Blue Bell Hill and giving her a lift to Chatham , only to have her get out of the car and dissipate into nothing - quite the unnerving experience , for all involved . There are supposedly two other women who haunt the road of Blue Bell Hill : one allegedly a maid whose murdered body was discovered in the early 20th century ; the other is the ghost of an older lady who supposedly lived deep in the woods near the road , and reportedly does not appreciate any interactions she has with the living - we would advise you avoid sharing a car with her , if you can help it !
Deadman ’ s Island

Islands come with a somewhat sinister energy surrounding them . Often secluded and cut off from the rest of society , there really is nowhere to run if things take a ghostly turn . Though none have such a haunting , depraved history as Deadman ’ s Island . The grisly island can be found surrounded by grey bubbling seas and crashing waves just off the Isle of Sheppey , and is a place that would make anyone ' s skin crawl . It is completely uninhabited , visitors are strictly forbidden , and there are legends of red eyes that glower towards the mainland , disembodied figures and headless men that spend their nights wandering the rocky shores . In the case of Deadman ’ s
Island , these scary tales might be more than myth ; in fact recent investigations found the island strewn with the 200-year-old corpses of convicts that had taken their last breath on a prison ship , and had their bodies buried on the island in unmarked graves . Due to the naturally changing environment around Deadman ’ s Island , the bodies , nor souls of these men have not been able to rest peacefully , and their remains , along with their coffins now litter the shores of the cursed Isle . The sight of fleshless bones and eyeless skulls have horrified the few people that have laid eyes on them , with some stating that the horrific sight would haunt them forever . So if you happen to be passing by the island on a dark , chilly October night , we would advise averting your glance , lest you see something truly horrifying .
After exploring these cursed places where phantoms roam rampant and take pleasure in disquieting the souls of the living , you may be trying to convince yourself that you will be staying well clear of any locations mentioned above . But just remember , Kent has a wealth of blood , pain and death sowed deep into its history ; there are probably ghostly figures hiding down every winding street , and dark alleyway . . . happy ghost hunting .
