The 20th March seems a long time ago , but that was when schools across the country were told to close to combat the spread of Covid-19 . Northbourne Park made a conscious decision to remain open for the children in boarding who could not return home . So began an adventure for a small band of overseas children and the staff who stayed on site to look after them .
For 100 days of lockdown the children continued with their education but were also fortunate to enjoy the great outdoors . They built a mountain bike track , a treehouse , a go-kart , and hatched chicks besides many other activities .
Meanwhile the school provided full online teaching to the children who remained at home . Live lessons with their teachers meant that all the children made progress . The senior pupils were able to take their final exams and they must be congratulated for all passing .
By the middle of June Northbourne Park was able to open the doors again to all the children to enjoy the last couple of weeks back at school before the summer holidays began .
All these experiences have given Northbourne Park the confidence and knowledge to plan for a successful year ahead .
