THE OCTAGON:
A £3.5M DEVELOPMENT PROJECT FOR ONE OF THE BEST INDEPENDENT
SCHOOLS IN THE REGION
CLAREMONT SCHOOL IN EAST SUSSEX WILL START THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR IN
SEPTEMBER ON THE CREST OF A WAVE, WITH RECORD NUMBERS ACROSS THE PREP
AND SENIOR SCHOOL SITES, AND A £3.5M REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT UNDERWAY
AT THE SENIOR SCHOOL SITE IN BODIAM.
The expansion plan, known as The Octag on
Development Project, will focus on the
redevelopment of the heart of the school site,
creating a new Art Department, student work
rooms, classrooms and offices.
Simultaneously, the school will extend
its already outstanding performing arts
provision providing a brand new dance studio
and Music Department. This project will add
to the already outstanding facilities across the
two sites. These include sports halls,
swimming pools, pitches for every sport, an
Astroturf pitch, theatre, Performing Arts Centre,
Forest School and, of course, many well
equipped and resourced classrooms and
specialist subject areas.
The driving force behind The Octagon
Development is the exponential rise of the
Senior School since its founding in 2011.
Building on the success of the Prep School
site in St. Leonards, Claremont opened a Senior
School in the beautiful village of Bodiam, East
Sussex. Starting with only 40 students in 2011,
the Senior School has grown, in each
successive year, and now has over 330
students. Over the past few years the Bodiam
126
site has now evolved into a beautiful boutique
independent School. In January 2018,
Claremont became part of The International
Schools Partnership, who have seen great
potential in this excellent school, and have
already made considerable investment into
both the Prep and Senior School sites.
Claremont has a reputation for outstanding
academic results and a warm, supportive and
dynamic school programme. The aim is for
every child to develop a positive and proactive
attitude towards learning which will support
them throughout their lives. The ethos of an
amazing learning journey ensures that each
individual has the opportunity to develop
knowledge, confidence, self-esteem, good
learning habits, and an appreciation of moral
values within a busy and vibrant environment.
This is enhanced by small class sizes and
imaginative teaching and learning
methodology.
Children who attend Claremont are
encouraged to discover that they have
attributes in areas where they perhaps least
expected, thanks to the guidance given by the
teachers. Children have the opportunity of
learning many new skills and also competing
at the highest level at inter-school, local,
county and national level.
The next Open Days for the 2018-2019
academic year will be 9.30am-1pm on Sat 6th
Oct, 2018 for the Senior School and 9.30am-
1pm on Fri 5th Oct and Sat 6th Oct, 2018.
However personal appointments can be made
for a tour of the School with the Headmaster
by contacting the School Office.
Look out for further updates on the progress
of The Octagon Development and many other
exciting new projects that are in the pipeline
to mark the beginning of a new chapter in the
life of Claremont School.
