In 2018 , Smallhythe Place is exploring women ' s history and suffrage through the anniversary of women gaining the vote . Their new exhibition , Triumphant Women , will be on display at Smallhythe Place celebrating the women of Smallhythe in the Suffrage movement . Edy Craig : Women , Suffrage and the Theatre will be on show in the Barn Theatre and green room , while The Shakespearean Lectures of Ellen Terry will be exhibited in the main house . The event is included in the main ticket price .

The inaugural Margate Film Festival launches 3rd – 7th October 2018 , focusing on the themes of ‘ outsiders ’ and shifting attitudes to people and places . With over 15 events over five days , the festival celebrates Margate ’ s creative culture , as well as its rich past and diverse cultural identity .
