DATENIGHT Reignite the spark WITH SOME DAZZLING DATE NIGHT IDEAS WHEN YOU’RE IN A RELATIONSHIP, IT CAN BE ALL TOO EASY TO FALL INTO THE SAME OLD ROUTINE EVERY DAY, WHICH MEANS THAT TIME TOGETHER BECOMES MUCH LESS OF A PRIORITY. BUSY JOBS, FAMILY DUTIES, TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE FRANTIC PACE OF LIFE IN GENERAL CAN ALL COMBINE TO PREVENT US FROM SPENDING IMPORTANT TIME WITH OUR OTHER HALVES. HOWEVER, IF YOU CAN MAKE SOME QUALITY TIME FOR ONE ANOTHER THEN YOU’LL BE HAPPIER, MORE RELAXED AND BETTER PREPARED TO COPE WITH WHATEVER LIFE THROWS AT YOU. A REGULAR DATE NIGHT IS GOOD FOR THE MIND, BODY AND SOUL OF ANY RELATIONSHIP, PLUS YOU’LL GET TO EXPLORE MORE OF KENT AT THE SAME TIME, SO IT’S A WIN-WIN. IF YOU WANT TO ADD A REGULAR DATE NIGHT TO THE CALENDAR, HERE ARE SOME IDEAS TO GET YOU STARTED. The Yard Date Night 1... It all starts at 3pm for this wonderful date afternoon, evening and night as it happens...with a tour and tasting at Shepherd Neame in Faversham. This award-winning tour will take you around the centuries-old brewery where you can learn about the art of brewing and see everything that goes into making the perfect pint of Shepherd Neame beer. The brewery has its own well and guests are more than welcome to take the mineral water that comes from it. You can also get up close to real Kentish hops. The tour takes 80 minutes, and during that time you can visit the Old Brewery Store where you can see historic vehicles, a cooper’s workshop, old pub signs and plenty of hop-picking memorabilia. Finally, back at the visitor centre, you can try a variety of different beers and ales that Shepherd Neame produce. Shepherd Neame The next exciting stop is an early dinner at The Yard. This gorgeous café is situated in Jacob’s Yard, Faversham, a lovely cobbled area that really makes you feel as though you have stepped back in time. The Yard opened in 2015 and has been popular ever since; it all started with a street food stall at Faversham market and has since grown to become a favourite café with many locals and visitors. The food is simple and tasty, produced using locally sourced ingredients and local producers such as the Kent Cider Co and Steve The Fish to offer a complete dining experience. There are always fun midweek promotions happening at The Yard too, such as the Thirsty Thursday Supper Club or specially designed ‘super bowls’. The menu includes items such as homemade baked beans, English breakfast with a twist and plenty of mouthwatering homemade cakes. Once you’re full, it’s time to move on to The Corner Tap, a nearby micropub. The Corner Tap serves a wide range of cask ales from independent breweries far and wide, but if you’re not a beer lover don’t worry, you can have wine, cider or gin as there’s a large collection to choose from. This is the kind of pub that everyone wishes they had on their doorstep – friendly and inviting, it’s perfect for whiling away a couple of hours just chatting and enjoying one another’s company in comfortable surroundings. Finally, what’s a date without music? Live music has to be the order of the night, so head over to The Market Inn where live music has a permanent home. There aren’t as many venues offering live music as there once was but Faversham’s Market Inn is still as dedicated as ever, so if you’re lucky enough to be nearby, pop in, pull up a pew and listen to some tunes. Just a short walk from the town centre, The Market Inn was originally built to cater for the increasing population of Faversham when the railway came. Now it’s a fun, lively place to spend the end of your date night in style. 49
