CANTERBURY ENTREPRENEUR RECEIVES #WOW AWARD FROM JACQUELINE GOLD CBE
Jess Vasiljevic from Canterbury has recently
been recognised by British businesswoman,
Jacqueline Gold CBE, for her success as a
female entrepreneur, and awarded with a
prestigious #WOW badge.
Jess was one of three winners selected by
Jacqueline after she entered Women on
Wednesday – a competition launched by
Jacqueline in 2011 to celebrate the growing
number of UK female entrepreneurs and
businesswomen.
Women on Wednesday (#WOW) takes place
every week and is run through Jacqueline’s
Twitter page. When selecting the winners,
Jacqueline looks for businesses that are
interesting, that have strong brand values and
that she thinks have potential to grow and
succeed in their industry. She looks for quality
products and services, well designed websites
and entrepreneurs who demonstrate good
business acumen and who have spotted a gap
in the market that meets the consumer’s
needs.
Baboo Box was created by Jess and her sister
Ruth, who realised that whilst pregnancy was
a magical experience it was also a difficult
experience for many women. They have
hand-curated four gift boxes specific to each
trimester of pregnancy and one post birth,
filled with items to make the journey an easier
one. Each box contains pregnancy-safe
products, useful items and a sprinkling of fun!
Jacqueline says: “Baboo Box caters to
expectant mothers, providing both goodies
and essentials for mothers during pregnancy
in the form of one brilliant box for each
trimester. Ruth and Jess both bring their own
talents to the company, complimenting each
other and making this business go from
strength to strength. I wish them every success
in the future.

HOSPICES OF HOPE’S
BAGPUSS FUN RUN
Otford-based charity, Hospices of Hope, held its third
annual Fun Run in Knole Park, Sevenoaks. More than 140
runners and walkers, including many children, took part
in this family event, which raised £4,000 for hospice care
in Albania, Moldova, Romania and Serbia.
Participants had the choice of a 2K or a 5k course and the
charity’s mascot, Bagpuss, led the 2k run.
Bagpuss’ creators were strong supporters of Hospices of
Hope and Oliver Postgate founded its Bagpuss Children’s
Ward in Romania. The charity has the right to use the
Bagpuss name and character and to celebrate this everyone
wore brightly coloured Bagpuss t-shirts.
All runners who completed the course received a
medal, a flapjack made by the Hospices of Hope’s
tearoom in Otford and Romanian bottled water supplied
Aqua Carpatica.
Commenting on the Fun Run, the charity’s founder Graham
Perolls, CMG, OBE said: “The atmosphere at our Fun Run
was fantastic with people of all ages running or walking to
help raise funds for our patients. Hospices of Hope supports
hospice care in South East Europe because more than 90%
of people facing terminal or life-limiting illness have little
or no medical care, symptom control or pain relief. I am
really grateful to everyone who took part and made the
event so enjoyable, to Knole Estate for letting us hold the
event in such wonderful surroundings and to sponsors,
the F3 Group and Aqua Carpatica.”
