ST EDMUND’S SCHOOL CANTERBURY:
AN EXCITING AND INSPIRING PLACE TO LEARN
ST EDMUND’S SCHOOL CANTERBURY IS AN INSPIRING AND EXCITING DAY AND BOARDING
SCHOOL FOR BOYS AND GIRLS AGED 3-18 WITH AN EXCELLENT ACADEMIC AND CO-
CURRICULAR PROVISION FOR STUDENTS IN THE SIXTH FORM.
The new headmaster, Edward O’Connor, has
been in post since September and says: “I feel
privileged to be leading St Edmund’s School
at this exciting stage in its evolution. When I
arrived here five years ago as deputy head, I
immediately fell in love with the school’s
family spirit, its outstanding pastoral care and
its commitment to nurturing the individual
talents of pupils. St Edmund’s is a dynamic
and vibrant school and I look forward to
working with all members of the school
community to develop an exciting vision for
the future.”
The St Edmund’s sixth form provides a highly
effective transition from school to university
life in a happy, supportive and stimulating
environment.
There is an extremely broad and exciting A-
level curriculum delivered in small classes to
enable close support for students. In
consequence, there are excellent opportunities
for academic success, along with artistic,
musical, sporting and creative development.
The students take part in expeditions, charity
work and enrichment activities to develop
their potential for leadership and taking
responsibility.
“We believe effective communication is the
key to success in the sixth form,” says head of
sixth form, Mr. Mount. “All sixth formers are
affiliated to houses where their tutors and
housemasters oversee their pastoral welfare
and maintain strong links with parents. We
know that preparing properly for life after
school is a vital role of a successful sixth form.
To this end, the Careers and Progression Team
provides expert, bespoke advice on the all-
important UCAS university application process
and on careers planning.”
