HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS QUINTESSENTIALLY BRITISH EVENT. As true British days out go, you can’t get much more refined than the Weald of Kent Country Craft Show. From artisan crafts – think beautiful pottery, hand-crafted garden sculptures and exquisite jewellery – to kids’ activities, it’s very much a family affair. This outdoor show is set against the majestic backdrop of stately home, Penshurst Place and is the perfect excuse to get out and celebrate spring over the early May Bank Holiday from 5th–7th May 2018. Known as one of the most prestigious craft shows in the country, it features over 150 exhibitors with exquisite items for the home and garden, from handmade furniture to unique clothing. FOODIE’S DELIGHT This event isn’t just about the crafts. There’s a full day out with artisan food and drink, vintage style children’s rides and rural craft demos. Live music from close harmony group The Haywood Sisters and Crooked Style, a two- piece country folk guitar group, complete the festival atmosphere. Foodies can follow their noses to the food and drink village serving up freshly cooked food – from handcrafted pizza and hog roast to Thai. Bring your resuable bags to stock up on store cupboard treats from regional producers selling cheeses, preserves, chutneys, fudge, sauces and a range of drinks. FAMILY FUN Creative workshops, from chocolate making to pottery, along with dazzling falconry displays, terrier racing and an outside play area should satisfy even the most active of families. This gentle day out is a beautifully relaxed way to celebrate the magic of spring. Visitors will be given their own identity cards and can enjoy unlimited travel for the day, with steam trains running every 45 minutes between Tenterden and Bodiam. Entertainment across the railway will include singing and dancing from 40’s group My Favourite Things on Saturday and the Swingtime Sweethearts on Sunday. Cinque Ports Lindy Hoppers will be dancing and Miss Holiday Swing and Mr Adam Hoffman will sing popular tunes from the 40’s both days and Vintage Allsorts are providing a pop up tearoom. Viv the Spiv will be in residence all weekend. Vintage stalls will sell authentic 40’s clothes and accessories and you can complete your 1940’s makeover with the authentic 1940’s hairstylist. Vintage military and civilian vehicles, interactive land army, Desert Rat displays, costumed re-enactors, Air Sea Rescue talks and interaction with preservation groups will be on offer.
