THE TASTE OF KENT AWARDS RETURNS
FOR ITS 14TH YEAR!
Kent’s burgeoning food culture was cited as one reason why the county
was chosen recently as one of the coolest places on earth to visit. Travel
Publisher Travel, DK, picked Kent for its ‘where to go’ guide last year
highlighting the food and drink on offer.
Produced in Kent have been organising The Taste of Kent Awards since
2004, showcasing the best of Kent’s food and drink products. It is the
county’s longest running and most prestigious awards having gained
many loyal sponsors and supporters during that time.
The range of categories has grown year on year and now incorporates
every product that Kent, the Garden of England, is renowned for. With
each passing year, the number of votes cast for your favourite food
and drink heroes has also grown massively with Kent foodies
demonstrating great support for local products by participating in these
annual awards.
This year’s awards presentation dinner will take place on Thursday 8th
March 2018 at the Kent Event Centre, Detling. For more information,

KENT SCHOOL GAMES
CELEBRATES ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY
PALOMA FAITH ANNOUNCES
FOREST LIVE DATES AS PART OF THE
ARCHITECT SUMMER TOUR
With her acclaimed number one album, ‘The Architect’ riding high in
the charts and a BRIT nomination for Best British Female, Paloma Faith
announces The Architect Summer Tour, which includes dates as part
of Forest Live, the concert series organised by the Forestry Commission.
So far ‘The Architect’ has spent over 10 eight weeks in the top ten,
propelled by the poptastic single ‘Crybaby’, the stunning ‘Guilty’ and
latest re lease, ‘Til I’m Done’. The new album is currently on course to
become her fourth double platinum album in a row – which would
make her the first British woman in chart history to achieve this
incredible feat.
The Kent School Games is a biennial sporting extravaganza, set
up in 2008 as a Kent County Council Olympic and Paralympic
legacy project to inspire schools and young people to participate
in competitive school sport.
More than 30,000 young people between the ages of four and 18,
in primary, secondary and special needs schools take part in the
countywide event, many of whom will progress to county and
national finals.
Forest Live is a major live music series managed by the Forestry
Commission. Held every year in beautiful forest locations across the
country, over 1.5 million people have attended a gig in the programme’s
17-year history. Income generated from ticket sales helps to look after
the nation’s forests sustainably, for people to enjoy and wildlife to thrive
and these shows will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the
summer season.

Many of the winter finals took place at Medway Park Sports Centre
in Gillingham, during January and February. These included:
handball, basketball, indoor rowing, badminton, futsal and sports
hall athletics. Medway Park also hosted the multi-skills/Change 4
Life finals, a popular event that aims to encourage less active
children to take part in more physical activity.
Disability Aquasplash is one of the most popular events for children
with complex needs and learning difficulties. Schools from across
Kent take part and this is a great day out for the children. The 2018
winners of the swimming event went to the Beacon School in
Folkestone.
This is the second year running that Beacon have been
crowned overall winners in a sport that has won them many
accolades, including fourth place in the National U14 Swimming
Finals, which were recently held at the London Aquatics Centre
in the Olympic Park. For more information, please go to:
