With an ever-increasing demand for Le Cordon Bleu programmes in
the UK, a new chapter began in January 2012 as the London school
moved from Marylebone Lane to its new international flagship premises
and UK headquarters located in the heart of central London on
Bloomsbury Square. The newly renovated facility has given students
access to the best equipment and the latest technology.
State-of-the-art culinary facilities within the school include: self-
contained work stations for each student with their own oven and
induction plates; digital sous-vide water baths; multi-zone convection
ovens; a tandoor oven; fully equipped bakery rooms with retarder
provers and stone-based ovens; a wine room equipped with premium
wine coolers; temperature and humidity controlled rooms with seamless
extraction duct; and multimedia support. There is also an on-site café,
which allows the public to enjoy a taste of the Le Cordon Bleu experience.
Café Le Cordon Bleu offers a range of fresh artisan breads, pastries,
gourmet sandwiches and daily specials, which are made fresh each
morning using traditional French techniques and seasonal ingredients. The Avenue Cookery
School was established
in 2004 and is a family
run, fun and vibrant
place to learn how to
cook (or to enhance the
skills you already have).
Each course is carefully
prepared to ensure that
students get the most
out of their time at the
school – there will be
time to ask questions
and become familiar
with the processes and
equipment, as well as a
chance to really get to
grips with different
cuisines and methods.
Courses include the
vegan ‘ready, steady,
bake’ class, Indian street food class and kids’ cooking club – but there
are many more to choose from as well.

Cookery School is London’s most sustainable cookery school and it
has recently announced the launch of its ‘Waste Matters’ class which
teaches people how to reduce waste in the kitchen. Students learn how
to repurpose leftovers and be more sustainable in the kitchen. The
classes demonstrate not only recipes from popular ‘to be binned’
ingredients, but also how to recycle ingredients, what to do with leftovers
and using alternatives to clingfilm, minimising waste, water and eco-
friendly cleaning materials.
Other classes include a summer cooking camp for teens called
‘From Baked Beans to Brilliance’, a course for absolute beginners and
an ‘Ultimate Baking Course’ too.
