‘Who Was Winston Churchill?’
OUTDOOR CONTEMPORARY
ART TRAIL
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED WITH THE NEW OUTDOOR CONTEMPORARY
ART TRAIL THIS SEASON AT CHARTWELL, THE HOME OF WINSTON CHURCHILL.
IGNITE YOUR IMAGINATION BY DISCOVERING BOLD, CONTEMPORARY
ARTWORKS THROUGHOUT THE GROUNDS THAT CELEBRATE AN ALTERNATIVE
APPROACH TO THE LIFE OF WINSTON CHURCHILL.
What is your part to play?
The ‘Churchill’s Chartwell’ project team have teamed
up with two innovative artists: fashion historian and
curator E-J Scott and designer and creator Patrick
Bullock. E-J’s curatorial expertise lies in engaging
new audiences with historical content, whilst Patrick
is a craftsman known for humorous, daring, large-
scale installations. Working together as narrator and
maker, this perfect partnership produces bold new
artworks based upon well-informed historical content. The trail is designed to engage varied audiences, so
whether you’re a history fanatic keen to learn in a
new way, or you are yet to visit Chartwell, this will
be an opportunity for you to embark on an
alternative creative journey inspired by heritage.
What are the artworks?
From a huge replica of Churchill’s writing desk to
a display of vintage film clips, there will be a variety
of artistic pieces hidden around the grounds. Find
all of the installations to explore the man behind the
leader. The ‘show-stopper’ is a gigantic sculpture of
Winston Churchill looking across the Weald of Kent.
“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference,”
Winston Churchill once said. Chartwell’s new
outdoor contemporary art trail definitely has attitude,
so come along and find out what all the fuss is about.
This trail will run from Saturday 12th January until
Sunday 24th February.
