VISITKENT ‘Who Was Winston Churchill?’ OUTDOOR CONTEMPORARY ART TRAIL EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED WITH THE NEW OUTDOOR CONTEMPORARY ART TRAIL THIS SEASON AT CHARTWELL, THE HOME OF WINSTON CHURCHILL. IGNITE YOUR IMAGINATION BY DISCOVERING BOLD, CONTEMPORARY ARTWORKS THROUGHOUT THE GROUNDS THAT CELEBRATE AN ALTERNATIVE APPROACH TO THE LIFE OF WINSTON CHURCHILL. What is your part to play? The ‘Churchill’s Chartwell’ project team have teamed up with two innovative artists: fashion historian and curator E-J Scott and designer and creator Patrick Bullock. E-J’s curatorial expertise lies in engaging new audiences with historical content, whilst Patrick is a craftsman known for humorous, daring, large- scale installations. Working together as narrator and maker, this perfect partnership produces bold new artworks based upon well-informed historical content. The trail is designed to engage varied audiences, so whether you’re a history fanatic keen to learn in a new way, or you are yet to visit Chartwell, this will be an opportunity for you to embark on an alternative creative journey inspired by heritage. What are the artworks? From a huge replica of Churchill’s writing desk to a display of vintage film clips, there will be a variety of artistic pieces hidden around the grounds. Find all of the installations to explore the man behind the leader. The ‘show-stopper’ is a gigantic sculpture of Winston Churchill looking across the Weald of Kent. “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference,” Winston Churchill once said. Chartwell’s new outdoor contemporary art trail definitely has attitude, so come along and find out what all the fuss is about. This trail will run from Saturday 12th January until Sunday 24th February. Who are the artists?
