NEWS THE SEARCH IS ON IN THE SOUTH EAST FOR THE UK’S MOST MARVELLOUS MOGGY DISCOVER ‘HISTORY HIGHLIGHTS’ WITH THE NEW LEEDS CASTLE PODCAST To celebrate the start of its landmark 900th anniversary year, Leeds Castle in Kent has become one of the few historic houses in Britain to produce its own podcast. Join Robert Bathurst, history enthusiast and actor ( Cold Feet, Downton Abbey ) and a host of distinguished historians for History Highlights of Leeds Castle, launched in January. Lasting approximately 20 minutes each, the first series will see three episodes from the castle’s turbulent history released for free download from all major podcast platforms and the Leeds Castle website, followed by further episodes in the ensuing months. The Castle hopes to appeal to people of all ages who are engaged and interested in history, through these fascinating, bitesize history highlights to listen to in the car, on the way to work or at home. With imprisonments, riots and royal parties, Leeds Castle hasn’t always been as peaceful as you’ll find it today. The new podcasts will travel through 900 years of history, back to a time when the Castle found itself at the epicentre of significant political and cultural developments. Listeners will be taken on a journey through sieges, Henry VIII at the Field of Cloth of Gold to the roaring 1920s when Olive, Lady Baillie brought mid-century style and glamour to the Castle. DATES ANNOUNCED FOR TURNER PRIZE 2019 Cats Protection is asking cat owners in the South East to nominate their furry friends in this year’s National Cat Awards. For over a decade, the Awards have celebrated the difference cats make to owners’ lives by highlighting heartwarming stories of devotion, companionship and courage. Could your cat follow in the paw prints of Lucky, from Surrey, who won Cats Protection’s Outstanding Rescue Cat Award; Salem, from Hampshire, who won Cats Protection’s Furr-ever Friend Award; or Nana, from Hertfordshire, who was shortlisted for Cats Protection’s Purina Better Together Award last year? Cats do not need to have been adopted from Cats Protection to be nominated for an award, and owners have from 15th January until noon on Friday 8th March to enter one of five categories: Hero Cat – cats that save the day; Most Caring Cat – cats that positively impact a person’s health or wellbeing; Furr- ever Friends – tales of friendship between children and cats; Outstanding Rescue Cat – fabulous felines adopted from animal charities; PURINA® Better Together – celebrating the special bond that has transformed and enriched the lives of both a feline and human. 130 Turner Contemporary are thrilled to announce the official dates for Turner Prize 2019.
