DINING OUT
Amici Restaurant
Amici is a family run authentic Italian restaurant serving
delicious homemade food using only the finest
ingredients combined with fresh local produce. With
two Italian chefs – Nino and Massimo – working
together with the rest of the Amici team, this is a
restaurant which has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere
providing excellent food at an affordable price. Dishes
include salsiccia piccante – sautéed spicy Italian
sausage with fried onions and garlic; and tagliatelle
Alfredo – ham, peas, chicken, black pepper, with a hint
of garlic in a creamy cheese sauce with parmesan
cheese.
Everest Inn
The Everest Inn combines Indian and Nepalese dishes
in a comfortable and spacious dining room. Authentic
ingredients and flavours mix perfectly to make food
that, once tasted, can’t be forgotten. Just a quick glance
at the menu will show you how good it is with dishes
such as ‘magic’ chicken tikka – chicken tikka marinated
with garlic, ginger, herbs, cashew nuts and fresh cream,
served with yoghurt chutney; chati kukhura – chicken
cooked with fresh mushrooms and green peas in chef's
special spices and flavoured with green herbs; and
pan fried red snapper with stir-fried cabbage and
creamy tomato sauce.
The Wife of Bath
The Wife of Bath serves Northern
Spanish inspired dishes, which are
adventurous in both their influence
and flavour, perfectly blending the
rustic with the refined. Smoked
paprika, Ortiz anchovies, Iberico
chorizo, Padron peppers and saffron
sit harmoniously alongside locally
sourced pork, poultry, game and south
coast fish. Don't forget to save room
for the bitter chocolate tart with
Sevillano olive oil and Folkestone salt!
ANNUAL EVENTS
Ashford Create Music Festival // Jul
The Create Music Festival is one of the
biggest free music festivals in Kent. It is
Ashford's most popular and established
annual music event attracting over 13,000
people throughout the day. Local acts
perform alongside regional and national
headline acts across many stages and
there’s also street theatre, market stalls,
food and drink areas, and children's rides.
TOP SPOT
Ashford certainly has its fair share of shops
and if you’re looking for a bargain it’s to
the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet that
you should head. It was designed by Lord
Richard Rogers and it’s an incredible sight
with its white tent-like structures. People
from all over the South East come here
for the fashion and other goods that you
can find, all at great prices. Look for Ted
Baker, Lacoste, Fred Perry, Nike, Tommy
Hilfiger and many more. When you need
to take a break, there are lots of restaurants
and cafes, and there is even a children’s
play area to keep little ones occupied.
DID YOU KNOW?
Those ubiquitous white lines on our
roads first made an appearance in Ashford
in 1914. They were first painted on the
London to Folkestone road and it wasn’t
until four years later that they were painted
elsewhere in the UK.
