WELCOME
Happy New Year! We hope you had a
brilliant time celebrating with family
and friends, and that Father Christmas
didn’t disappoint.
Editors' night out at The Ned (p99)
January is upon us. 2018 is upon us. Which
is all very exciting, but we think January
gets a bit of a bad wrap. Perhaps because all
the sparkle and shine that makes December so
magical is stripped away; maybe because we’re all
simply missing the luxury of grabbing a turkey
sandwich and snuggling up to watch Love Actually.
Again. Whatever it is, a lot of us tend to suffer from
the winter blues in January and everything gets a
bit out of whack.
new year in a positive and happy way. Redress the
balance in your life (p84); ditch that negative
‘dieting’ mentality and follow it up with some
deliciously healthy cooking (p93; p65); and, if you’re
still feeling half-hearted, look ahead to summer
and start planning your sunny family holiday (p101).
There’s also oodles of things to keep you occupied

It’s a new year; it’s a new you – so grab 2018 by

MY FAVOURITE THINGS THIS MONTH…
WINTRY WALKS AT CHARTWELL
Winter is a magical season at Chartwell, characterised by golden-yellow
flowers, clusters of dramatic red blooms and evergreen shrubs covered
in candy-pink flowers. There are two exhibitions running too: Child of
the Commons focuses on the political career of Sir Winston Churchill,
while the Fiftieth Anniversary exhibition tells the story of Chartwell
through the eyes of the local communities.

ZERO WATER FILTER
Although it’s not gravely dangerous to drink tap water, there’s no harm
in purifying unwanted toxins out of it, which is where the Zero Water
Filter steps in. The only water filter brand that delivers the equivalent
to purified bottled water into your home, it removes more total
contaminants from water than any other regular filter and has a more
than manageable price tag.

BETTY BOYNS’ BRIGHTON COLLECTIBLES
I know, I know… Brighton isn’t in Kent, but there’s just something so
iconic about our seaside neighbour and, amongst the cheap chintzy
memorabilia, this range of goodies featuring views of beach huts, the
bandstand, the Royal Pavilion and the Palace Pier, shines like a beacon
of collectible loveliness. Better still, they’ve been launched by the Martlets
hospice, so the money you spend will go on to help others.
