EDUCATION
ST EDMUND’S SCHOOL CANTERBURY
“PUPILS HAVE POSITIVE ATTITUDES TO LEARNING AND ARE STRONGLY MOTIVATED TO SUCCEED.” INDEPENDENT
SCHOOLS INSPECTORATE REPORT
As a result of its current popularity and success, St Edmund’s School
Canterbury is the largest it has been in its 268 year history so it is very
timely that the building of a new Academic Hub is underway and the
first phase of this exciting development will be completed and ready
for use by pupils in Spring 2018.
St Edmund’s welcomes day and boarding enquiries from parents and
encourages families to visit the school. Entry points at ages 3+, 7+, 11+,
13+ and 16+ are the norm, but entry into other year groups is possible
when places become available.

St Edmund's School Canterbury is a distinctive and historic boarding
and day school for boys and girls aged 3–18 that provides a lively,
challenging education in a nurturing environment and is proud to be
the Choir School for Canterbury Cathedral. Academic standards are set
high and the school is renowned for its excellence in Music, Drama
and Art as well as its sporting success in cricket, tennis, hockey
and football.
The Head, Louise Moelwyn-Hughes, says: “This school remains true
to its ethos from centuries back of valuing respectfulness, kindness,
meritocracy, but it increasingly steps beyond that by challenging itself
and seeking to be something different. Aspiration is now core in this
school and pupils and staff constantly push beyond; challenge
themselves to ‘be all they can be’.”

SIXTH FORM AT ST EDMUND'S
Whatever the academic interests or abilities, background or
aspirations, St Edmund’s can be a fantastic platform for Sixth
Formers. The school respects their decision to continue their
education at A-level and values their distinctiveness as individuals.
But don’t take our word for it. Go along to the Open Evening on
Thursday 23rd November to find out about what’s going on at St
Edmund’s Sixth Form.
