THE BROADWITCH HAUNTFEST AT BROADDITCH FARM IN SOUTHFLEET HAS BEEN A
STAPLE OF THE HALLOWEEN SCENE IN RECENT YEARS AND IT’S LITTLE WONDER WHEN
YOU DELVE DEEPER INTO THE DARKNESS AND REVEAL THE FUN, THE SCARES, AND THE
MEMORIES THAT ARE MADE THERE EACH YEAR. INSIDEKENT SPOKE TO THE ORGANISERS
OF THE BROADWITCH HAUNTFEST TO FIND OUT WHAT THOSE WHO WANT TO FEEL
THE FEAR CAN EXPECT THIS YEAR.
What can we expect from Broadwitch
this year?
It’s bigger and better! We always improve
things every year – we never stand still when
it comes to Halloween. Of the five nighttime
haunts that we do, one has been totally
revamped this year and all the others have
been changed, or improved in some way. It
has to be fresh every year.
So even if people have been before, they can
come along and still get a good scare?
Everyone gets a good scare! We want to keep
things interesting for those who have been
before, and to be on the radar for those who
have never visited us. All the haunts have
changed and people notice different things
every year anyway. When you’re going
through one of the scare mazes and you’re
jumping at all the sounds and movements,
you might miss something. Come again the
next year and you’ll spot something different.
It’s never the same.
soldiers were frozen and have now been
thawed out and they’re not happy! It’s a total
twist on how it was last year. ‘Thirteen’ is
another one that’s changed quite a bit. It was
always based on thirteen fears and
superstitions, but it’s now called Thirteen
Freaks and is based on circus freaks. It will be
like going to a freak show from years gone by.
If people are scared of clowns this will be their
worst nightmare. We’ve also got Monster Madness and the
Boneyard. And there are trailer rides that go
on throughout the day too. The younger
clientele love it – it’s more fun than scary.

People love being scared; really love it, so we
aim to please. It’s always fun to watch them
when they emerge from one of the scares at
the hauntfest – you can gauge how they’ve
taken it and how scary it was from their faces.
It’s one of the best bits for some people and
they queue up at the exits to enjoy the looks
of terror and to see how fast people are
running to get away from the frightening
things inside.

Which of the haunts has been changed
completely? Are there going to be any children’s events
this year?
‘Biometrix’ has been totally changed this year.
It’s now called Biometrix Subzero. It’s a similar
theme, but it’s been made cold this year – the There are indeed. The daytime is always very
popular. We’ve got the Boo Bungalow again,
but it’s been changed so it doesn’t get boring.
