EDUCATION IN ASSOCIATION WITH CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL CHOIR VOICE TRIALS 11TH NOVEMBER 2017 CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL CHOIR IS LOOKING TO AWARD SUBSTANTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS TO TALENTED BOYS WHO WOULD LIKE TO JOIN IN SEPTEMBER 2018. Auditions (also known as a voice trials) for boys aged 7 and 8 will be held on 11th November 2017, but parents are encouraged to contact Cathedral Organist Dr David Flood as soon as possible if they know their sons enjoy singing and think they might be interested. Dr Flood said: “I would be delighted to meet and advise parents at any convenient time. It is not necessary to have had any musical training at all, it’s just potential that I am keen to see and hear. I can advise about how to prepare for the audition and answer any queries and give all sorts of information. Above all, music-making in the Cathedral is fun and the life of a chorister is a wonderful and unique experience.” 25 choristers enjoy the facilities of St Edmund’s School, Canterbury and receive very substantial scholarships from the Cathedral. The Cathedral Choir House has recently enjoyed a £2 million renovation. 126 Canterbury Cathedral Choir enjoys the very highest reputation across the world and performs to many thousands of people every year, at home and through radio and television. The choir records regularly and the choir’s CDs are highly regarded with the latest one due out in October 2016. The choristers have the opportunity to participate in major tours, the last one being a two-week tour of America.
