Zeus Ouzeri & Taverna is a modern Greek restaurant
located in the heart of Canterbury on Orange Street,
ideally placed between Canterbury Cathedral and the
Marlowe Theatre. Now in its fourth successful year Mario
Poyiatzis owner and operator has set out to create a dining
experience not seen in other Greek restaurants throughout
the UK. Mario, Greek Cypriot in origin, has drawn on family
recipes and knowledge gained traveling throughout Greece
and its Islands. The end result is a menu of creative and
wholesome food, with ingredients sourced from Greece
and Cyprus. Zeus’ menu focuses on dishes using traditional
ingredients with a modern take, cooked fresh to order
by our Greek and Cypriot chefs. ‘Everything Greek’ was
the owner’s vision. This is reflected in the decor, furniture
and decorative accents, sourced from Greek Islands. The
wines and spirits list, which featuring award-winning wines
from across Greece and Cyprus, such as Moschofilero and
Retsina, traditional Greek spirits such as Tsipouro plus four
different types of Ouzo can be paired to compliment meze.

The lunch menu runs weekdays and starts from just £9.95
along with the pre-theatre menu also available during the
week, ideal as the Marlowe theatre is merely a stones throw
away. Groups of up to 50 guests can take advantage of the
group meze menu that is available for bookings of above 10
guests. The restaurant can get very lively at weekends with
loud music, whilst very much remaining a family friendly
establishment with a dedicated children's menu. Zeus’
recently launched ‘Greek Street Menu’ focuses on street
food available in Greece and Cyprus, where dishes such
as Souvlaki can now be ordered for takeaway from the
restaurant. Customers regularly rave that Zeus is one of the
best Greek dining experiences outside of Greece or Cyprus.
