For food and drink lovers it would be a shame to miss the Broadstairs Food Festival , which is on until 2nd April ; the Cliftonville Farmers Market on 29th April ; and the Ramsgate Brewery Tour taking place on 7th April .
Then there are the Easter egg hunts . Thanet always does like to do things differently , so these exciting egg and scavenger hunts have been designed with that in mind . Take the Scavenger and Great Egg Case Hunt on Margate Main Sands on 3rd April , Viking Bay on 4th April and Ramsgate Main Sands on 5th April . Not only is this an exciting hunt where children will look for shark egg cases , but they will also be able to get involved in making a marine art masterpiece . Egg-citing stuff !
For those who love indulging in a bit of creativity , you ’ re going to love the Make Some Noise At Quex event where you can make a djembe drum ( 3rd-6th April ) or a thunder drum ( 10th-13th April ). Alternatively , there is a weeklong painting course being held at Silverland Studios for children from 3rd to 7th April , and adults from 9th to 13th April .
Of course , Thanet wouldn ’ t be Thanet without a good dose of activity , which is why there is plenty for those who love to be energetic to do . The Skate and Skoot Camp at Revolution Skatepark from 9th to 13th April is one example , plus there are four fantastic minigolf courses to play on . Try all four and challenge your friends and family to a tournament !
Art has always played an important part in Thanet ' s heritage , so why not take part this month by visiting Journeys with the Wasteland at Turner Contemporary and also at the Undercover Festival at Dreamland on 13th and 14th April ; the Classic Car Show at
Crampton Tower ( 22nd April ) and the always magnificent Looping The Loop Festival from 27th April to 7th May are all part of the very fabric of the area .
DISCOVER AN ECLECTIC MIX OF ATTRACTIONS
Thanet has a diverse array of world-renowned attractions that straddle the cultural , artistic and active endeavours of the area . It also has plenty of ‘ hidden gems ’ that , once discovered , can never be forgotten . Turner Contemporary , one of the most interesting and modern art galleries in the world , is one of the former , as is Dreamland the amusement park .
When it comes to those hidden gems , there are plenty to choose from . The Micro Museum – a museum dedicated to computer games and gaming , the Shell Grotto , Dickens House , the Ramsgate Tunnels – a labyrinth of underground tunnels dating back to World War II , Crampton Tower and Margate Museum are all well worth a visit .
From 1st April visitors to the amazing Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum in Manston will be able to experience a brand new Spitfire simulator . You ’ ll see just what it was like to fly one of these incredible machines in an accurate 1:1 scale replica of the Spitfire ’ s cockpit . Dreamland has some fun new events and activities for the Easter season too including The Whale , a lifesize inflatable sperm whale theatre installation which will house The Pirate Misadventure Show . As well as this , children can join in with the Shaun The Sheep Championsheeps from 7th to 15th April , and Peter Rabbit ’ s story time on 6th April .

A day trip to the Isle of Thanet just isn ' t enough , especially with so much going on in April , so why not book a room in one of Margate ’ s , Broadstairs ’, or Ramsgate ’ s lovely hotels and stay for longer ? The Bay Tree Hotel , which overlooks beautiful Stone Bay in Broadstairs , has recently reopened after a major refurbishment that celebrates the original features of the grand Victorian building and is certainly somewhere special to rest a weary head before another day of adventuring .
