AND, WITH KENT JUST A SHORT HOP ON THE TRAIN FROM LONDON WITH SOUTHEASTERN RAIL, IT’S THE PERFECT PLACE TO HOST FRIENDS AND FAMILY OVER THE EASTER BREAK. Easter egg hunts There are dozens of Easter egg hunts taking place around the county from the quirky Easter Break & The Feverishly Fickle Friend event at Penshurst Place (30th March - 15th April), near Tonbridge to the chance to combine heritage with your hunt at The Historic Dockyard Chatham from 3rd - 17th April. The National Trust has once again teamed up with Cadburys to offer Easter egg hunts at many properties including Chartwell, Knole, Scotney Castle and Smallhythe Place, while over at Leeds Castle there’s an Easter quest from 30th 52 March to 15th April and plenty of circus fun ovetr the weekend of 30th March – 2nd April. 2. Delicious seasonal produce It’s not just chocolate that can tickle the taste buds in spring. What about new potatoes, roast lamb with all the trimmings, fresh young herbs and vegetables? SEVENTEEN restaurant at One Warwick Park in Tunbridge Wells is the perfect spot to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon, serving up traditional roast dinners each week. Seasonal local produce is used in the menu at The Marquis at Alkham too – to be enjoyed within an idyllic location set amongst the rolling hills of the Alkham valley. And if you’re after a picnic, Macknade Fine Foods in Faversham can provide the perfect produce. 3. Baby animals The Kent countryside is a great place to spot newborn lambs, but even better is the chance to see them up close. At Wildwood near Herne Bay expect a spring wonderland with chicks and bunnies as well as their usual native British wildlife.
