LET’S TALK ABOUT THE MENOPAUSE cont.
DIET TIPS AND SUPPLEMENTS TO HELP EASE SYMPTOMS
Symptoms that your body is preparing for
the menopause can start in the mid-40s (or
earlier) and can include changes in the
frequency or heaviness of your periods,
premenstrual tension, mood swings and
irritability. As your body produces less and
less oestrogen, other symptoms may appear
including aching joints, depression, lack of
energy, joint pains, declining libido, weight
gain, headaches and, most commonly, hot
flushes and night sweats.
Here are the twelve key points of Dr. Marilyn Glanville’s hormone-balancing diet:
1. Include hormone-balancing
phytoestrogens in your diet
2. Eat more Omega 3 fatty acids
3. Increase your intake of fruit and vegetables
4. Change from white, refined carbohydrates
(white bread/white pasta) to unrefined,
wholemeal ones.
5. Buy organic foods where possible
6. Reduce your intake of saturated fat from
dairy products and meat
7. Make sure you drink enough fluids
8. Increase your intake of fibre
9. Eliminate foods containing chemicals such
as additives, preservatives and artificial
sweeteners
10. Avoid or reduce your intake of caffeine
11. Reduce or eliminate alcohol
12. Avoid refined sugar either eaten on its own
or added to food
BETTERYOU™ DLUX+ VITAMIN D+K2 ORAL SPRAY AND MAGNESIUM RANGE
BetterYou™ DLux+ Vitamin D+K2 Oral Spray is an optimum
strength spray delivering 3000iu of vitamin D alongside 75ug of
vitamin K2.
Vitamin D and Vitamin K2 work synergistically with each other
to ensure that calcium is directed out of the arteries and into the
bones where it helps improve bone density. Together with
magnesium, they are key nutrients that can help with menopause
– vitamin K2 supplements can slow down the rate of bone
weakening after menopause and has the potential to decrease
the number of fractures in women with osteoporosis; low levels
of vitamin D and magnesium can exasperate menopause
symptoms including fatigue, low mood and poor sleep.
Additionally, without enough vitamin K2 calcification within the
arteries can occur, increasing the risk of heart disease.
PROMENSIL DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS
Promensil dietary supplements have been specifically developed to
help women manage symptoms of the menopause such as hot flushes,
night sweats and mild anxiety, naturally and effectively without resorting
to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) as prescribed by a doctor.
Promensil contains a standardised source of red clover isoflavones,
plant based compounds known as ‘phytoestrogens’, commonly found
in foods such as lentils, chickpeas and broad beans. They are naturally
occurring substances that have similar effects to oestrogen. Their
chemical structure binds to the body’s oestrogen receptors helping
balance the see-sawing hormones in the run up to, during and after
the menopause.
