FAMILY-FRIENDLY FLOORING CONT.
Styling
So we have talked about what kind of flooring is right for each room, but what
about the styling of these floors?
If you are interested in patterned flooring but aren’t on board with loud garishly
designed carpets or tiles, fear not, we have Lauren Shaw, residential marketing
manager at Amtico, on-hand to help guide us through styling flooring patterns,
and giving your floor the individualism it deserves. ‘There are a wide range of
options if you are looking to introduce a pattern to your flooring at home. You
should first consider what style of pattern you prefer as this will help you start
to narrow down your search for the right one. There are countless modern and
traditional options when it comes to patterns, so consider the design style of your
home, and your taste in furniture. This way, you will be able to choose a patterned
flooring style that doesn’t look out of place. You should also keep in mind that
you can create patterns with one colour by installing wood, vinyl or ceramic tiles
in different laying patterns. An excellent example of this is traditional parquet
flooring. Drawing inspiration from colours already present in rooms, in kitchens,
for example, you can base a modern patterned floor with different colours on
the colours of cabinets or worktops, and this can help bring the design of the
room together.’
Lastly, the most important thing to remember when choosing the correct flooring
for your home is to have fun with it! Use our guide to choose flooring that is
practical, and suitable for each room, but be sure to make your house feel like
a home with your very own, personal twist on family friendly flooring.
