HOME+GARDEN
BOSUN COTTAGE CONT.
What are your hints and tips for
those looking to embark on an
additional property project?
Take your time to find the right house.
There will be points in the project that
test you (whether it’s that leaky radiator
or the fact you’re digging out stubborn
shrubs in 30 degree heat!), and what
will keep you going is your love of the
property, and the vision you have for
its future. Mark and I have designed
the house knowing that we will spend
lots of time there in the future, so it is
more to us than “just” a let.
What's next?
We’ve recently launched our Home
Design service at Neptune Canterbury,
so I will definitely be leveraging
everything I have learned from this
project to help my clients. I think having
some hands-on experience of a reallife
project from start to finish will really
help me give sage advice, and also
understand what customers are
experiencing when they’re living
without a full kitchen/house full of
builders, etc.! We reopened the doors
at Neptune Canterbury on 1st June,
and we have heard from customers
who have spent so much more time
than they usually would have at home
over the last few months, and have
learnt what they do and don’t like about
their homes. They’re now able to come
to us with those revelations, and we
can help them design spaces they’ll
really love – and that will work with
how they might be living since the
pandemic. For example, including a
workspace into a home is something
that many more people will need
now, with the explosion of home and
flexible working, and of course the
kitchen has become more important
than ever before!
