BOURDAIS STRATEGY MASTERCLASS INDYCAR 2018 SEASON OPENER AT ST. PETERSBURG The 2018 Verizon Indycar season started on 11th March at St. Petersburg. The brand new car for 2018 made it’s debut and it became clear during the practice sessions, that the reduced level of downforce will give hard time to the more experienced drivers as well! Despite this, the “rookie” Bruce Wickens took the Pole and controlled the race for most of the time. Will Power lost the car at T2 right after the start, Alexander R o s s i b e c a m e t h e m a i n r i v a l fo r Wickens, Sebastien Bourdais was in the 14th position, but with an awesome strategy, he quickly entered the hunt for the victory. The race itself had many full course yellow flags, 2 of them were at in the last 10 laps, with 3 laps to go, the 6 race was on again, Rossi came really close to Wickens, and did what he had to do: went for the gap, but lost a lot of grip on the braking and hit Wickens, who spun and hit the wall…Wickens retired from the Lead, Rossi lost 2 positions, with full course yellow for the last 2 laps, no more position changes happened, Bourdais has won the exciting season opener.
