Any life (including our own) is most impacted by our education and ability to earn an income. Focusing on these two points of leverage brings empowerment, the exit from poverty and a chance at self-realization.

These two areas remain under-funded and under-supported in the public sphere in many developing countries. Private sector models are emerging. Insaan is situated in the middle, where it can help scale up innovative models regardless of the sector, public or private. Supporting entrepreneurial ventures can create large-scale sustainable employment and and/or back the development of a product or service relevant to the poor.

This is an industry that is traditionally supply-driven, not demand-driven. No one is buying philanthropy, and there is often no feedback mechanism where the poor can say: "Thank you for your school, but there are no teachers". Insaan focuses on the social impact of philanthropic capital. By placing the poor at the center, being open to different models and tracking results, Insaan makes philanthropy more effective. Our goal is to transform how giving is done to change lives (many lives), for better, and for good.
