LOVE us on Facebook

It ‘s that time of year where we knock ourselves out with shopping, baking entertaining, stressing and of course going to parties and functions, all the while we are working and keeping up with the Status Quo. Yes I am bad for it all, I baked 100 tarts and 180 shortbread and 4-dozen macaroons. But I am done, that is the good news! The house was decorated before the end of November and Christmas shopping was finished third week of November. I feel like a fine tuned

machine! But along the way I am tired and a little empty. Yes I confess even though I thoroughly satisfied with every careful purchase and soon to be wrapped gift, I feel there should be a prize but there isn’t one. I remind myself this is the season for giving, so stop thinking about myself right? At this point in my life I don’t need more stuff, well maybe a Starbucks latté, or a favorite bottle of wine, ok those things I would like, maybe stretch it to a good lipstick and mascara ok BUT that's IT!

So I didn’t know what to buy my husband, as his birthday is December 15th so he gets a bit of a raw deal cause the big day is 10 days after that. So I got online last month and decided to treat him to a trip. Yes I bought him a wee getaway and of course I am going too! A quick but very well deserved five nights away. I took care of the dinner and all the details, which that man won’t even have to think. I even phoned his place of work and told one of the staff to tell the HR folks he will be away for a few days. Yippee, we are going to a great southern inn December 12 to 17th. He will be back for the company Christmas lunch and Secret Santa exchange. It's a great time for some down time before the serge of the season!

Wishing you a joyful 2018!
